On Tuesday 21st March, Stanborough welcomed pupils from Applecroft and Lakeside schools, as well as residents from St Andrew’s and Elizabeth House care homes to our annual ‘Easter Cheer’ event. Guests were welcomed with refreshments and warm, freshly buttered hot cross buns and settled down to listen to a selection of music from each school. The Year 5s from Applecroft bravely delivered some solo and duet performances, whilst Lakeside students got the whole room rocking with their cheery tunes. The entertainment was closed by Stanborough Year 9 musicians, with keyboards, electric guitars and drums beating out some well-known songs from 70s groups including Abba, Bob Marley and Led Zepplin! It was a fantastic afternoon.
Many thanks to all involved, in any way, especially the Year 9 Leadership Academy students, Year 13 prefects and our head boy, Rhys José, who made everyone feel welcome with his jokes and positivity.
‘It was a great opportunity to sing with the other schools in the Handside Partnership. A huge thank you to all the people who helped organise it. I loved the fact that I was chosen to sing a duet with Annabel! I loved the words and the different parts in the songs we sang too’.
Olivia, Year 5 Applecroft
‘It was an absolute pleasure to accompany Applecroft’s School Choir to the Easter Cheer Concert at Stanborough School! What a wonderful, super-talented and well-mannered group they are! With Mrs Thorold at the helm, they sang two delightful Easter songs beautifully and their audience thoroughly appreciated their performance! Well done to all those involved! They represented Applecroft superbly well and I felt very proud to be there with them.’
Mrs Preston, Applecroft
‘It was good fun at the Easter Cheer this week. Everyone joined in and it was a great experience for all’.
