Rewards and Sanctions
Our Rewards System provides positive consequences for good behaviour and achievement.
You can earn reward points (Bronze Awards) for excellent effort, achievement, attendance, citizenship and leadership. You can also earn Silver and Gold Awards worth 5 and 10 reward points. Student names are drawn from a lottery at the end of term. All reward points go towards the end of year house trophy.
The Stanborough Code
We expect high standards of behaviour from all students.
The Stanborough Code sets out the principles on which behaviour and discipline are based. The Consequences Staircase shows how consequences are applied.
An individual student may be detained for a short period (10 minutes) after school on the day of an offence, or be given a half hour detention on a subsequent day (yellow level). There will be 24 hours written notice of this in the Personal Organiser. In more serious cases, where a school detention (red level) is imposed, parents are informed in advance by letter or telephone contact by a senior member of staff. Students who are repeatedly late for school may also be required to come in early for a pre-school detention.
In addition, we may set a Saturday detention for persistent inappropriate behaviour or more
serious incidents. If an incident is more serious students may be withdrawn from their normal school lessons and will work in the withdrawal room under supervision (red level).
In the most serious cases, students may be excluded from school. Agreed procedures will be followed.
Poor work or behaviour may lead to a student being placed on report. This would mean carrying a report card for the day and each lesson is reported on. The report card is seen by the Year Leader or other senior members of staff at the end of the day and parents are asked to sign the report. Students may also be placed on an electronic report.
