Instrumental Lessons
Timetables are available from the music department or can be emailed to you directly if you email ejackson@stanborough.herts.sch.uk
Tuition is currently available on the following instruments:
- Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone
- Cornet, French Horn, Trombone, Trumpet
- Drum Kit, Percussion
- Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar
- Voice
- Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
- Piano, Keyboard
Tuition is possible for both beginners and more experienced students
Fees for 11 lessons per term are as follows:
- 30 minutes shared tuition £110
- Individual 20 minute lessons £148.50
- Individual 30 minute lessons £220
Tuition takes place during normal school lesson time with students missing part of different lessons each week. It may be possible to arrange tuition during lunch time. Please speak to the Head of Music regarding this.
Please note that it is not always viable to offer 30 minutes shared tuition (due to needing two students of a similar standard). Therefore, please indicate on the application form whether you would be interested in 20 minutes individual tuition instead.
If you no longer wish your child to receive instrumental tuition after submitting an application and before a place has been allocated, we would appreciate a courtesy letter informing us of this as soon as possible in order for the place to be given to the next person on the waiting list.
You will not be contacted until a place is available. Due to the popularity of some instruments this may not be until the Summer Term.
Payment
As soon as a place is available an invoice for a term’s fees will be sent directly to you. Subsequent invoices will be sent at the end of the preceding term.
Fees are payable in advance at the beginning of each term. Prompt payment of fees would be most appreciated.
A half term’s notice is required in writing to the school should you wish to alter or cease tuition. If insufficient notice is given you will be liable for fees in lieu of notice.
Remission of fees either in part or in full may be paid for by the county in certain circumstances. Please apply through the school.
Insurance and Storage
Please ensure that instruments are clearly named and are easily identifiable. Locked rooms are available for storing instruments but we advise you to add the instrument to your home contents insurance. There is the opportunity to purchase instruments at low-cost or to hire from the school. Please ask the Head of Music for further information.
If you would like lessons please complete the application form and return to the school office/Head of Music’s postbox.
