Macy-Leigh Birleson, Head of School, writes:
On Wednesday the 5th of July, Stanborough hosted, yet again, the annual Summer concert. As always, it didn’t disappoint as the audience were treated with pure talent and phenomenal performances. With hosting by the Heads of School and brilliant cooperation from SaLT, Stanborough managed to showcase how amazing the students are. This was Mrs Jackson’s last concert for a while due to a little one on the way, and for a goodbye it was perfect. We had solos from Emily Bakewell 10A, Ted Ross 8B and Chloe Green 7A, which were all beautiful to say the least. Our orchestra opened the show with Strauss’ Radetzky March, setting the standard for the other instrumental pieces, with Hawaii 50 and Super Mario played by the brass ensemble and flute ensemble respectively. We heard from all four school choirs, with Uber Choir’s rendition of ‘It’s my Life’ being a particular highlight. The band Bash, a Year 7 group, who recently came 3rd in the consortium interschool ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition, ended the first act of the show, performing an original blues inspired song as well as Supersonic by Oasis. The concert finished with a mixed year group band called Chilli Sensations, who came 1st in the Battle of the Bands, ending the show on a Green Day high. It was a show to be remembered with Mrs Jackson handing over the baton to Mr Crann for next term. Can’t wait!
