House Dance 2019
Mr C Minion, House System Leader, writes:
This year’s House Dance took place on Thursday the 19th October. In front of a packed School Hall over 120 students danced in front of family and friends – which is the largest number since the competition began.
Every year the standard of the performances improves with students being responsible for all of the costumes, lighting and sound, make up and of course choreography.
There were students from all Year Groups with the Year 12 House Captains taking large responsibility for coordinating the pieces choosing a theme and choreographing the amazing dances.
Each House carefully picked a theme for their dances which had to link all three pieces. This year’s themes were:
Ashridge | Brocket | Hatfield | Knebworth | Offley | Sopwell |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
World Dance | Human Destruction | Video Games | Nightmares | Cinderella | Musicals |
Performance Awards were given to the following students:
Tilly North, Ashridge
Aaliyah Annis & Amy Sharp, Offley
Choreography Awards went to:
Louise Grenfell, Ava Connoly & Amelie Warner, Brocket
Offley Group Dance
Best Costume & Prop:
Offley
Best Newcomer:
Emily Mann, Ashridge
After definitely the closest competition yet, there was a great deal of discussion and deliberation. The eagerly awaited results were:
1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Offley | Ashridge | Brocket | Hatfield | Sopwell | Knebworth |
Once again a huge well done to all the students involved. The evening once again showcased the depth of talent at Stanborough and the commitment and organisational skills of our students. It was particularly impressive seeing our House Captains, some of whom are not dance specialists, producing such fantastic displays and dancing in them. The wonderfully supportive atmosphere, and standard of the show, was noted by parents and staff who attended.
Thanks to the sound and light crew for their efforts in the most technically demanding show yet.
Thanks to Miss Smith for her amazing leadership and ability to create and develop the passion for dance in the students who took part, and of course all the parents and staff who came along to support.
