Year 7
The Year 7 pastoral team are excited to welcome All our new year 7 students to Stanborough School as they begin a new and exciting chapter in their lives. Year 7 is a crucial year for all students to make a positive start to their secondary education in preparation for the years ahead.
The team have been hard at work to make the transition from Primary to Secondary as smooth as possible for our Year 7 students and will always be on hand to help them settle into life at Stanborough.
We understand there are and will be many emotions and some difficulties that come with the transition to Secondary School, and we want to support students to build resilience to cope with these to ensure they all achieve their potential. Stanborough School has an extensive support network for our students, including specialised staff to offer a helping hand, as well as groups and clubs to support our students, ranging from young carers groups to homework work club. We also have a large variety of extra-curricular clubs. Whether students enjoy sport, music or even robotics – there is something for everyone and every need.
Year 7 students will meet with their form tutor every morning – this is an opportunity for a daily check in and opportunity for students to make new friends, learn how to organise themselves and know what the expectations are at Stanborough. We also cover key issues in life skills sessions once a week, including things such as road safety, personal safety, learning to learn and resilience.
Year 7 is the beginning of a number of leadership opportunities – students can become part of the Year 7 Year Council or nominate themselves to be one of our charity or school representatives.
We look forward to welcoming our newest Stanborough members into our community and supporting them through this next exciting phase in their lives.
