FOSS, short for Friends of Stanborough School, is Stanborough’s PTA.
FOSS is a registered charity and its aims are to:
- foster more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school
- undertake activities that support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending it
- help provide school facilities or educational items that can’t be provided from school funds
How does FOSS raise money?
The biggest event in our annual calendar is the Quiz Night, held each spring, otherwise our main source of funding is the provision of refreshments at events held at the school such as live music evenings, live shows by students and the Year 7 Christmas disco. So when you attend an event at the school, look out for the FOSS refreshment table in the Dining Room – all profits go straight to FOSS.
FOSS urges whoever can afford to do so to consider making a regular monthly contribution to FOSS. Every regular donation can make a big difference and your children will benefit from the enhanced educational resources your donation will provide. A Gift Aid form is available below, if you are a UK taxpayer this will increase every £1 you give by 25p
Remember, too, that you can make donations to FOSS at no cost to yourself by using EasyFundraising as a gateway to all your online shopping, including insurance renewals.
Whenever you shop with over 2,400 well-known retailers like John Lewis, Amazon or M&S, they will donate a percentage of what you spend to us. It is completely FREE – you just need to register through our fundraising link and you are good to go. If your child’s primary school used EasyFundraising, remember to change your settings to make Stanborough the beneficiary from now on, though!

So what do we spend the money on?
In recent years funds have been provided for new stage lighting and backstage radio headsets; specialist chemistry equipment; a 3-D printer; tentage for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions; football kit; running spikes; drums; a full-size model skeleton; and kitchen equipment for Compass. In 2016 we donated £4,500 towards the netball court project.
