The Scores on the Doors….
Mrs E. Ahmad, Student Career and Enterprise Leader, writes:
The evening of 6th February saw Dragons Apprentice challenge team ‘Stanborough Saints’ support a local business and bring together members of the community at their organised quiz night in the award winning restaurant ‘The Don’.
The aim of the quiz was to raise awareness and money for a local charity Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline who offer a confidential freephone number for anyone affected by domestic violence or domestic abuse.
The evening was introduced by Stanborough Saints member and project manager for the event Patsy Smith. Entertaining quiz masters were Harry Evans, Nathan Curtis and Tobey Foskett who before you knew it, had participant’s eyes down and thinking caps on. After the first two rounds of Sports and Places a delicious, flavoursome and plentiful dinner was served by the fantastic staff at The Don. Following this were rounds on Music and Disney and a great game involving all of heads or tails where the winner walked away with a bottle of Prosecco. This led nicely onto our very generous raffle whilst the quiz markers, Matthew Harrington, Joshua Crowe, Megan Reynolds and Scott Boyd were kept busy adding up the team scores. Then came the final two rounds, Movies and General Knowledge.
All in all, it was a really fun evening; the audience’s participation and enthusiasm was fantastic and made it much more fun. Our welcome by the Don was warm and everyone enjoyed themselves – a perfect night out for us all with over £600 raised in a couple of hours.
We must pass on special thanks to The Don Restaurant, Paypoint and Herts Domestic Abuse helpline for their support in organising the event and Arfahna Alom for gaining the support from local sponsors for their generous and kind donations: Bill’s Restaurant, Pizza Express, Holland & Barrett, Odeon, Nando’s, Aveda, Body Shop, Marks & Spencer, Herbal Life, Boots, Ernest Jones, Tesco’s, Sainsburys, Cadburys, Matalan.
