House System
The role of the House System is to embrace all students and foster a sense of healthy competition and success for all. There are four houses at Stanborough which are all named after local historical houses: Brocket, Hatfield, Knebworth and Sopwell.
The Houses are competing for two trophies.
The Medal Trophy: Each event is given a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal for first, second and third. The house with the most Gold medals at the end wins the trophy.
The Stanborough House Trophy: This is awarded to the house with the most house points at the end of the Year.
Points are awarded for each house event. Events are run throughout the year. They are either faculty run events for particular year groups, such as a House Art Competition or the Humanities Trench Diaries and these are worth 100 points for the winner, or they are larger more whole school premier events, such as House Drama, House Music, House Dance or Sports Day. These are worth more points with 1000 points awarded to the winners of these events.
Reward points are given in school for outstanding pieces of work. One reward point = one house point so all students can contribute in every lesson they have.
High attendance levels also score house points as this is a very important key to students’ success in school.
