Mr S. Moore, Joint Curriculum Leader: PE, writes:
The Sports Day Event is designed to be highly inclusive and this proved to be the case with all students in Year 7 through to Year 10 taking an active part in the events. Students represented their house in either rounders, football, table tennis, badminton or an adapted version of volleyball for one part of the morning session, then competed in a throwing, running or jumping event at the Gosling stadium in the remaining morning session. This culminated in the speediest members of each house running the 4x100m relays on Wednesday afternoon.
Results of each event were recorded with points allocated according to the amount of students taking part and the finishing position from 1st to 6th. This gave us final total scores for each age group and an overall inter house result.
The winners of each age group were:
Year 7 | Brocket |
Year 8 | Offley |
Year 9 | Offley |
Year 10 | Sopwell |
Giving us the following overall final score:
1st | Brocket | 670 points |
2nd | Offley | 661 points |
3rd | Sopwell | 621 points |
4th | Knebworth | 596 points |
5th | Hatfield | 563 points |
6th | Ashridge | 549 points |
Congratulations to Brocket House and their captain Karl Puranik who was presented with the sports day trophy by Mr Brown who also thanked Mr Moore for his 19th and final sports day as Head of PE before his retirement this year.
