Year 10
Year 10 is a crucial time for students as they really begin detailed preparations for their GCSE examinations. The pastoral team enjoys the opportunity to support students through this important time in a variety of ways.
During the 20 minute tutor time set aside each day, we are committed to supporting students with their studies, progress and setting targets for the half term ahead. We also help students to develop an array of revision and organisational skills, something already explored in tutor times and assemblies in Year 9.
Aside from academic support, the pastoral team are instrumental in both the recognition and awarding of student success stories in and out of school. We also play a vital role in ensuring that there are no barriers to learning with the overarching goal being that every student in the year group reach their full potential, in-spite of the challenges that school life presents.
With such a crucial year ahead, we have very high expectations of the students in order to support them in reaching their short and long-term goals. Being organised, pro-active and committed to every subject is the key to success. We expect every student to contribute to a productive learning environment where everyone has the chance to excel. As many students as possible should take advantage of the extra-curricular activities on offer in order to enhance their learning and enrich their time in Year 10. All subjects will be offering revision clubs and extra activities to help students make the expected academic progress – Again, students should make every effort to attend these throughout Year 10. We hope to see the development of the skills learnt in Year 9, in Year 10. We will open up the opportunity for students to partake in the Leadership Academy to discuss and develop projects to benefit Stanborough School. In addition to this, there are an array of sporting and house activities that students can be part of to make the most out of their time at school, developing important leadership and social skills and encouraging active and essential engagement in school life.
Overall, we want to achieve our goal of every student having the support resources and determination to thrive in Year 10.
