Mr D. Cunningham, Subject Leader: Geography, writes:
The annual Stanborough School Great Year 8 Volcano Cake Competition was held last Friday on the 2nd February. This year guest judge, School Governor and volcano expert Edna Richards, came in to add her expertise to the proceedings.
The challenge as always was for students to make a volcano cake or model for display in the hall. Making their creation erupt was an option they could choose to include. The aim of this exhibition is for Year 8 students to display their knowledge of all things tectonic in confectionary form and display this in an exhibition in the hall.
All entries were of an excellent standard. The originality and hard work shone through. It was a hard decision for the judges deliberating over who should be awarded first, second and third place in each of the three categories.
After a serious amount of deliberation and cogitation and some explosive eruptions the volcanoes were judged and certificates issued.
Well done to all those Year 8 students that entered.
