Mr D. Cunningham,  Subject Leader: Geography, writes:

On Friday 15th February 2019, the renowned Y8 Stanborough Volcano Cake Competition was held in the main hall. It was incredible to see the hard work, inventiveness and attention to detail the students had taken when putting their creations up for display.

Students made entries for three categories: cake, model and/or eruption. The standard was so high, I had to get some very discerning Y11 geographers to help judge and identify some of the winning entries. They proved to be very fair and thoughtful in their comments and were very impressed by the efforts made by the Y8s.

By lunch time the cake and model entries had been judged but the eruptions were still to come. As always, they didn’t disappoint. Despite the serious threat of vinegar and baking powder inhalation all the volcanoes were judged. The winners are listed below and there were record numbers of highly commended and good entries.

This is also a house competition and Brocket had an excellent run this year with many of them taking the top awards. Certificates will be issued soon.
