Mrs Vlijter, Assistant Headteacher, writes:
Last weekend my family and I were in the amazing position of being able to celebrate my nephew’s recovery from Leukaemia. Rory was 4 when we discovered he had leukaemia, and has had invasive and painful treatments ever since to help him recover.
Cancer is tough for everyone, and the impact on a child can be significant. Rory lost the ability to walk, and is now just recovering his speech. On a whole family the impact of cancer is painful and certainly life changing. CLIC SARGENT is a national charity which supports families who are living with cancer. They can provide ‘home from home’ for families to stay in when their child is undergoing treatments, and they can provide nurses and play therapists to aid the child’s recovery. This is a charity that has really supported my family through this difficult time.
I am grateful to the Stanborough School community that we have chosen to support
CLIC SARGENT this year as our school charity, to help other families going through this.
