Another great year for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme

Bronze Award Groups 2018-2019
This year, 66 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award participants in Y10 will start the different sections of the Award; 58 will take part in the walking expedition and eight in the canoeing expedition. There is a meeting organised on 14th November where more information will be given on how to enter the necessary information to start the award. The students will be using the eDofE website to update their progress and upload evidence, photos and videos taken relating to their Physical, Skill and Volunteering Sections. This year, due to the numbers of participants, weekly meetings will be organised. This will enable us to keep track of all participants’ progress and keep them motivated during the challenges presented by the Award. Those meetings are taking place in C5 at 13.15 every Wednesday. I would also like to remind all students that they need to include their assessor’s full name and contact details on eDofE before the programme chosen can be approved. The key dates for both canoeing and walking Bronze expeditions programmes are:
Canoeing Expedition
Training days: Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April 2019
Practice expedition: 8th and 9th June 2019
Assessed expedition: 21st and 22nd June 2019
Walking Expedition
Training day: Saturday 9th February
Practice expedition: 11th and 12th May 2019
Assessed expedition: 12th and 13th July 2019
Please note some of those dates have been changed since the initial information meeting.
Gold Awards and Bronze Awards 2017-2018
Congratulations to our 16 participants whose Bronze Award have been approved since the start of September:
Sophie Barfield, Josie Clayton, Charlotte Kerr, Charlie Earnshaw, Kirsty Ormrod, Daniel Green, Kem Washuku, Ella Mason, Jonathan Baynes, Emma Clark, Grace Flynn, Alex Wright Thomas Miles, Justine House, Bethany Chapman, Allen Abraham, Jessica Franklin and Lewis Taylor.
The Bronze Award participants will be given their certificate and badges in the End of Term assemblies. Those participants will now be able to include the DofE Bronze Award in their C.V. and university personal statements.
Can I please ask all participants that if you have completed all the sections, can you please upload all assessors’ reports on eDofE so we can get more awards completed before the end of term.
New Gold Group: I would like to remind you that if you would like to complete the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Gold award in Y12 and Y13, please bring back you reply slip and deposit ASAP. This is a great opportunity to gain experience and skills that employers and universities are looking for.
Well done to all our students for their commitment and hard work!
