Duke of Edinburgh Canoe Training
Mrs G. Elliott, Duke of Edinburgh Award Co-ordinator, writes:
On a very wet and cold weekend at the end of April, 14 adventurous DofE participants took part in a two day training programme to prepare for their practice canoeing expedition. The training took place at Stanborough lakes and was delivered by the Stanborough Park and Activity Centre. During the two days, students learnt to direct themselves on a canal, map read, cook on a trangia and put tents up. They are now fully prepared to face the challenges of Stanborough’s first Duke of Edinburgh practise canoeing expedition which will take place on the 9th and 10th June.
