Welwyn Garden City Photography Competition
Miss A. Barnard, Subject Leader: Art:, writes:
Each year up until 2020, Schools in Welwyn Garden City are offered the opportunity to take part in a photography competition to photograph the local area leading up to the town’s centenary.
Last year, Stanborough School did exceptionally well and took away three awards from the prize giving ceremony held in July which featured in the local newspaper. Students received a mounted print of their photograph and the chance to meet the Mayor.
This year we were back in full force again with an extensive number of entries reflecting the theme of Sport and Leisure. Students got creative behind the camera taking some beautiful shots of our local community reflecting the social interests and leisure activities of our young people in 2018.
As the deadline for entries closed on Monday 30th April, the photographs have now been submitted to the Welwyn Garden City photography club who will judge them over the coming weeks in addition to the other local schools that took part.
At Stanborough School, we still want to celebrate the effort and hard work our students have dedicated to their creative photography submissions so have selected our own winners alongside the main competition as a chance to win some well worthy house points.
1st place is awarded to EMILIE HOWARD for her creative composition and contemporary photography style.
2nd place is awarded to GRACE BEAUMONT for her interesting use of natural light and colour composition.
3rd place is awarded to JAMIE ROPER for his technical ability and creative use of focus.
CONGRATULATIONS! You will receive your certificate and prize during your house assembly. Look out for your photographs on display around school as well!
Well done to all the students that took part and uploaded a photograph and good luck in the main Welwyn Garden City competition! Watch this space.
